Background

In 1999, in the Beauce region (Province of Quebec, Canada), two men with a vision decided to join forces and establish what was to become one of the most important manufacturers of prefinished hardwood floor moldings and related products in Canada. In 2000, PG Hardwood Flooring, the largest manufacturer of unfinished hardwood flooring in Canada, became Finium’s first customer. Less than a year later, the first American customer joined Finium’s client roster. Strong sales led to the expansion of the company’s plant in 2002. Once again, in 2004, Finum’s increasing market share and the support of our existing customer base coupled with the addition of new products led to acquisition of a wood vent manufacturer and the transfer of this production unit to the plant in Frampton.

Finium experienced a major turning point in its history in 2008 when senior management members Simon Leblanc, Denis Thibodeau and Pierre Vézina became major shareholders in the company. A few months later, the company established an American affiliate, Finium US Midwest in Kentucky, with partner Ken Shumacher, President of the Shumacher Group and former NWFA president.

Now serving the majority of hardwood flooring manufacturers in Canada and proud of our reputation, Finium continues to consolidate its flagship position, sparing no effort to maintain our fine reputation for quality and service.

WE MANUFACTURE IN Canada AND THE UINITED STATES

We established Finium US in 2009 in order better to serve our American clientele. A first plant was set up in the Midwest, and more specifically Erlanger, Kentucky. Thanks to our partner and former NWFA president Ken Shumacher, we can now respond more efficiently to requests from American customers. Lower shipping costs make us more competitive and allow us to offer shipping adapted to your needs. Our two plants follow the same production protocol and products are subjected to the same rigorous quality control.

Finium IS FSC CERTIFIED

Thanks to support from suppliers and employees alike, Finium obtained FSC certification for its chain of custody in 2008. Finium, however, did not stop there, implementing an in-house program entitled “Finium Green” to make our environment a better world.   All finish not applied to products is recovered. Since the finish is ultraviolet cured, there are no emissions of volatile organic compounds, in compliance with the most stringent standards enforced by the Government of Quebec in environmental matters. The range of wood products offered by Finium allows optimal use of raw materials entering our plants.

A CUSTOM LINE OF PRODUCTS COMPLYING WITH THE MOST STRINGENT STANDARDS

Our unique application process is backed by several years of research and continuous improvement based on customer feedback on quality. Thanks to this, we are able to offer the very best results in industrial UV finishes. The multi-step production process results in a final coat of varnish that blends with the natural look of flooring and avoids the “plastic” look sometimes seen on products processed differently.

All wood used is the Select and Better grade of the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA), of which all our suppliers are members. We comply with the very strict standards set forth by the new U.S Lacey Act, and all our suppliers are committed to supplying us with wood harvested from sustainably managed, eco-friendly forests.

Finium is one of the few molding manufacturers to be FSC accredited.

THE Colorfin COLOUR ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM

The Corofin colour adjustment program is unique to Finium. It is characterized by the fact that no common colour base is used for our customers. We develop new colour bases for each customer’s products. When you, the customer, enter our colour adjustment program, or if a new colour is added at your request, our colorists implement a development strategy to create a new colour based on your needs. Once you have approved the colour, we save a master colour board in your file. The master colour board will be used to adjust production when it is time to process each and every one of your orders as if they were first-time orders.

Production runs are studied under different types of lighting to ensure their conformity. Each of our colorists is tested yearly to guarantee perfect perception of the full spectrum of colours.
